This is my working, scaled-down trebuchet. It can fire a marble with a modicum of accuracy over 25 yards. Seven pounds of lead fishing weights are in the bucket to act as counterweight to the sling and arm.
The mathematics involved in trebuchet mechanics are algorithmic......which means I don't understand them at all. This design was adapted from a recipe obtained online, and tweaked through trial and error.
Matt has a breakaway castle wall we made from insullation foam which acts as the target for our seige weapon. A tug of the trigger cord and "KA-CHUNG"! ..."Missile's away!" |
